Polar Striker[]

Bear warrior by zgfisher-d3a3ax1

"I'll tear you to pieces!"

Embodying a primal hunter of ice and snow, there exists rangers that know how to truly channel a mighty beast through themselves. Rangers of this conclave, known as polar strikers, slash with the ferocity of a fearsome polar bear, emulating tactics both used by the intelligent werebears, and the instinct-driven polar bears.

Additional Favored Terrain[]

Starting at 3rd level, you gain arctic terrain as one of your types of favored terrain. If arctic terrain is already one of your favored terrains, you can choose a different one, instead.

Arctic Hunter[]

At 3rd level, you take on some of the traits of polar bears. You gain the following benefits.

Claws. You gain sharp claws on your hands, which are natural weapons you can make unarmed strikes with. When you make an unarmed strike with your claws, you deal 1d6 slashing damage, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike. Additionally, you can use your Dexterity instead of your Strength for your unarmed strikes.

Multiattack. When you use the Attack action with an unarmed strike on your turn, you can make one unarmed strike as a bonus action.

Frozen Swimmer. You gain a swimming speed equal to your base walking speed, and can hold your breath for twice as long.

Revised Ranger: Extra Attack[]

Beginning at 5th level, you can attack twice, instead of once, whenever you take the Attack action on your turn.

Rip and Tear[]

Beginning at 7th level, the instincts of the bear guide you as you fight. When you make an unarmed strike as a bonus action from Multiattack, you have advantage on the attack roll. Additional unarmed strikes using the same bonus action, such as from a monk's Flurry of Blows, do not have advantage.

Bear Form[]

At 11th level, the strength of the bear courses through you. As a bonus action, you can change into a polar bear, for 1 hour, as if done from a druid's Wild Shape feature. The polar bear form has the following changes made to it.

  • Its maximum hit points increase by an amount equal to your ranger level.
  • It uses your proficiency bonus instead of its own.
  • It adds your Wisdom modifier to its armor class.

After using this feature, you must take a long rest before you do so, again.

Hibernating Hide[]

By 15th level, your hide has grown to be even more resistant to frost, but yet lighter, than actual polar bears. You are immune to cold damage, and your movement speed increases by 10 feet.
